Prayer & Fasting Guidelines for 40-Day Fast

Eating Guidelines

Individuals taking medication or who are underweight should consult their primary healthcare provider before engaging in a fast.
Medicinal Fasting Details: 
  • Two (2) Meals per day
  • Fish, Turkey or Chicken with Vegetables
  • Water only
  • No sweets/sweet bread/desserts

Individuals without dietary restrictions, may fast as follows:
Please Drink Water & Protein Shakes daily
  • 1st week -  Fast between 6am-6pm (no beef no pork)
  • 2nd week - Fast between 6am-6pm (no beef no pork)
  • 3rd week - Vegetables all day (cooked or raw)
  • 4th week - Vegetables all day (cooked or raw)
  • 5th week - Soup and Crackers (all day)
  • 6th week - Soup and Crackers (all day)

Prayer Watch Prayer Points

1. The Evening Watch (6:00 PM - 9:00 PM)
• Focus: Reflection and Thanksgiving
• Prayer Guidance: This time is ideal for reflecting on the day’s events, acknowledging God’s presence in every detail. It’s a moment to offer thanks for His provision, guidance, and protection. This watch is also a time to pray for family gatherings, evening church services, and for God’s peace to settle over homes and communities as the day comes to a close.
  1. Pray for humility and repentance, acknowledging our personal and collective sins before God.
  2. Pray for God's mercy and forgiveness upon our nation, community, and families, seeking restoration and reconciliation.
2. The Late Evening Watch (9:00 PM - Midnight)
  • Focus: Preparation for Rest and Protection
  • Prayer Guidance: The hours leading to midnight are pivotal for seeking God’s protection through the night and surrendering every worry or anxiety. It’s an opportunity to pray for dreams and visions from God, and for a restful, restorative sleep that is free from disturbances, both spiritual and physical.
  1. Pray for the fulfillment of God's promises and the restoration of His people, both spiritually and physically.
  2. Pray for the empowerment of the Church to be a light in the world, spreading God's love and truth to all nations.
3. The Midnight Watch (Midnight - 3:00 AM)
• Focus: Spiritual Warfare and Deliverance
• Prayer Guidance: Traditionally known for being a time of significant spiritual activity, the midnight watch is crucial for intercession, spiritual warfare, and praying for deliverance from oppressive situations. It’s a period to engage in prayer against spiritual strongholds and to intercede for those who might be in the midst of spiritual battles.
  1. Pray for the revelation of God's will and purposes in our lives, seeking clarity and direction for the future. 
  2. Pray for spiritual breakthroughs and deliverance from strongholds both personally and corporately, to experience freedom and renewal. 
4. The Late Night Watch (3:00 AM - 6:00 AM)
• Focus: Seeking Direction and Renewal
• Prayer Guidance: Often considered the watch of awakening, this time before dawn is ideal for seeking God’s direction for the coming day and for the renewal of mind, body, and spirit. It’s a sacred time for those seeking fresh revelations or insights from God, as the quiet of early morning can be especially conducive to hearing His voice.
  1. Pray for the strengthening of our faith and trust in God's sovereignty, even in the midst of trials and challenges.
  2. Pray for a revival of holiness and righteousness in the Church, that we may be a pure and spotless bride ready for the return of Christ.
5. The Early Morning Watch (6:00 AM - 9:00 AM)
• Focus: Empowerment and Preparation for the Day
• Prayer Guidance: As the day begins, this watch focuses on asking for God’s empowerment, wisdom, and provision for the day’s tasks. It’s a time to pray for blessings on your endeavors and for the Holy Spirit to guide your decisions, conversations, and actions throughout the day.
  1. Pray for wisdom and discernment as we navigate the complexities of life, seeking God's guidance in all decisions and endeavors.
  2. Pray for unity and harmony among believers, that we may be one body, loving and supporting one another in Christ.
6. The Mid-Morning Watch (9:00 AM - Noon)
• Focus: Success and Favor in Daily Activities
• Prayer Guidance: This watch covers the bulk of the morning work period and school hours. It’s an opportune time to pray for productivity, success in work and studies, and for God’s favor in all professional and academic endeavors. Intercession for colleagues, classmates, and the day’s appointments can be made during this time.
  1. Pray for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to equip us for ministry and service, that we may bear fruit that glorifies Him. 
  2. Pray for the manifestation of God's kingdom on earth, that His will may be done in every aspect of society and culture.
7. The Early Afternoon Watch (Noon - 3:00 PM)
• Focus: Healing, Restoration, and Strength
• Prayer Guidance: Reflecting on the moment of Christ’s crucifixion, this watch is deeply connected with intercession for healing—both physical and emotional. It’s a period to pray for the restoration of relationships, for strength in trials, and for the church’s and individuals’ resilience against challenges.
  1. Pray for  God's protection and provision over our lives, families, and communities, trusting in His faithfulness to sustain us.
  2. Pray for a spirit of revival and transformation to sweep across the land, turning hearts back to God and bridging healing to our nation.
8. The Late Afternoon Watch (3:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
• Focus: Revival and Spiritual Awakening
• Prayer Guidance: This watch is tied to the hour of Jesus’ death and the victory over sin and death. It’s a powerful time to pray for personal revival, a deeper filling of the Holy Spirit, and for a spiritual awakening in communities, nations, and the world. This period is for declaring victory over sin and death and praying for the spread of the Gospel.
  1. Pray for the advancement of God's kingdom through missions and evangelism, that the Gospel may reach every corner of the earth.
  2. Pray for the empowerment of leaders in government, church and society, that they may govern with wisdom, justice and integrity, aligning their decisions with God's purpose.
